How do I know that I can trust you?
Since our beginnings in 1893, we have always strived towards building a reputable service; one that provides our customers with 100% satisfaction.
It’s a reputation that we are very proud of, and one that we will always strive to uphold.
Note that we also have a physical address with actual land-line numbers. Be very wary of sellers who only have a cellphone number as a contact point.
back to topWhat are the 4 C's?
The 4 C's of diamonds refer to the carat weight, clarity, colour and cut (see Knowledge Base for more info)
back to topHow do I know that I'm buying a diamond?
Every one of our diamonds comes with a certificate from a reputable, independent lab (GIA, EGL, etc). This certificate is uniquely linked to its own corresponding diamond and includes information such as the exact dimensions, fluorescence, symmetry, inclusions and other measurements.
back to topWhat about so-called "blood diamonds"?
Blood diamonds (also referred to as “conflict diamonds”) are diamonds that are mined in a war zone and used to finance the unlawful activity of military, rebel and terrorist groups.
In the year 2000, South African countries, with legitimate diamond trades, decided to put a system in place to track the origins of all rough diamonds. Each parcel of rough diamonds is put into a tamper-proof container and has to be supplied with enough information to prove that it comes from a conflict-free zone.
This system is called the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.
Since its introduction almost 7 years ago, 75 countries have joined the membership and participated in the process.
At CDJE, we only buy diamonds from legitimate diamond dealers with above-board reputations and a proven history of code of ethics.
back to topWhat types of metals can my ring be made of?
We can set your ring in platinum, palladium, 18K gold (white & yellow), or 14K gold (white & yellow). (see Knowledge Base for more info)
back to topWhat are the payment options?
All payments can be made via Credit Card, EFT, or cash (if collected in person).
We will begin manufacture as soon as we receive payment.
Is my personal information safe?
Yes.
All personal information (including phone number, physical and email address) is used only by our personnel. We will never sell your information to anyone.
Are my banking/credit card details safe?
Yes.
None of your information is stored. We also use a 3-D secure system from FNB in order to authenticate cardholders during an internet purchase and therefore reducing the likelihood of the fraudulent usage of cards.
Do you do refunds?
We offer a 14 day money back guarantee on all our products.
This means that, if there has been a mistake made and the item is not exactly as we have promised you, then you are entitled to a full refund.
Unfortunately, we cannot refund on “buyer’s remorse” as there are obvious costs involved in the manufacture of any piece of jewellery.
What is your shipping policy?
All our jewellery is couriered via RAM Hand-to-hand couriers.
It will be sent as “valuable cargo” so it will be insured and fully secure.

back to topWhy are your prices so cheap?
Being an online company, we don’t have to sit with a lot of stock and we don’t have the overheads of a physical store. This allows us to offer significant discounts compared to physical retail stores.
back to topI know what I want - now what must I do?
Easy – if the item you want is on the website, and is exactly the way you want it, then just “Add to Cart”, go to the “Check Out” and pay with your Credit Card.
If the item you want is not on our website or if you would like to make changes to an existing product then please send us an email at info@cdje.co.za or give us a call on +27 (0)21 423 6789.
I have a picture of a design that I love - what must I do now?
Our in-house goldsmith’s can make whatever design you would like. So, if you have something specific in mind, please send the picture through to info@cdje.co.za, along with an estimated budget that you would like to work within, and one of our friendly sales staff will get back to you as soon as possible.
back to topI want someone to design a ring for me.
Well then you have come to the right place. Our highly-experienced, in-house designer will sit down with you in our offices, while you sample some of our excellent coffee, and together you can come up with your dream design.
This is a FREE service that we offer to you.
I don't know what I can afford / I only have a small budget.
Send your contact details to info@cdje.co.za and one of our friendly sales staff will get back to you, or you can give us a call on +27 (0)21 423 6789. You might be surprised and find out that you really can afford your dream ring.
back to topWhy should I buy from you instead of a goldsmith?
1) The simple answer is that we have a fixed location and are an established company; i.e. there’s a much lower risk from buying from us.
It is a sad fact that there are a few unscrupulous people out there who will promise the world and then disappear with your hard-earned money.
Be very wary of people selling from “back rooms” and who only have a cellphone as a contact point.
We are an established, legitimate company with a fixed landline number and a physical address right in the centre of the city.
back to topHow long does it take to make a ring?
We work with a 10 working day manufacturing time. If you require your ring sooner than this then please give one of our friendly sales staff a call and they will do their best to accommodate your needs.
back to topWhat is the best diamond & do I need a flawless, white diamond?
1) The best diamond is the one that works within your budget.
Generally speaking, diamonds with flawless clarities and high colours (D, E, & F) are considered to be investment diamonds. If you have the budget for it then we would definitely suggest going for them, however, you don’t need to be Richard Branson to own a beautiful diamond.
A diamond with a “SI” clarity and a colour “I/J” will still look gorgeous. In fact, a colour “K” is still jewellery grade white, with a very noticeable yellow tinge only really being visible from “L” onwards.
The quality of the cut is far more important than the clarity and colour as it will affect the brilliance of the diamond.
We hand-select each and every one of our diamonds to ensure only the best looking stones pass through our hands into yours.

1) Every person is unique and will like different things in a ring. For instance, some people prefer heavier, chunkier-looking rings while others prefer dainty, “pretty-looking” rings.
It’s all down to personal preference.
That being said, I have yet to meet a woman who would say, “No” to a simple 4 or 6-claw solitaire ring. This is definitely a very safe option.
Try looking at the kind of jewellery she currently wears – is it white or yellow gold? Is it big & chunky or more on the dainty side? Is she arty & creative or more down to earth & practical?
Give one of our experienced sales staff a call and tell us more about the love of your life. With our many years of experience we will help guide you on this first step into an exciting future.

Having this extra step protects everyone from credit card fraud.
